Overview:
  • Style 5450 is 100% glass fiber braid, supplied dry, but also available with a graphite finish upon request. Usually found on static sealing or gasketing services, and sometimes for reciprocating motion. These styles resist organic solvents, most acids and mild alkalies.
  • Can be found in use for expansion point packing in boilers and furnaces, furnace door seals, coke oven door jamb seals, sealing strainer in distillation columns and gasketing around doors of wood-burning stoves (may require rope).
  • Style 5450 has been accepted as a substitute for asbestos packing materials by the U.S. dept. of Labor, Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA).
  • These styles are in compliance with all the requirements: compression, flammability and explosion.
  • Garlock high-quality fiberglass braid product has been approved by the U.S. Dept. of Labor - Mine Safety and Health Administration for use in various mining applications.
  • Fiberglass braids are used for their ability to withstand high temperatures, functioning as boiler, furnace, and oven door gaskets.
